Conference Objectives
The overall objective of this interactive course is to provide you with the tools you need in order to ensure the safe and compliant receipt, use, transport, and release of radioactive materials and radiation sources. You will learn how to maintain a high level of compliance with radiation regulations and protocols based on novel research performed by the University of Texas Health Science Center. You will improve your skills in performing radiation safety surveys, shipping and receiving radioactive materials, and managing and disposing of radioactive waste. This course is designed to meet the established Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Radiation Control training requirements for individuals wishing to become Radiation Safety Officers.
Who Should Attend
This program is designed for anyone who currently works in the field of radiation safety or wants to learn about the science of radiation. The content serves as a good refresher for health physicists.
Registration Fees
$ 1,000 Registration Pricing expires on June 23, 2016
Meals-lunch will be provided during the intensive courses.
Lodging and Transportation-Hotel accommodations, airfare and car transportation will need to be arranged on your own.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
Requests for registration refunds must be in writing and recieved by our office (SWCOEH) at least 10 business days before the course begins. The date the request is recieved by us will be considered the cancellation date. Requests received after the refund deadline will not be processed. Cancellations are subject to a $50 administrative fee deducted from the registration fee paid to cover guarantees and other expenses. Requests should be emailed to SWCOEH.CE@uth.tmc.edu
The Southewest Center for Occupational and Environmental Health reserves the right to cancel activities, not less than 10 business days before the scheduled date, if extenuating circumstances make it necessary. Registrants will be notified at the contact information indicated on the registration form. If an activity is cancelled, the SWCOEH's liability is limited to the registration fee paid.
NOTE: If payment is made by check, an identification number is required to process the refund.
